Our current model of health care is mostly a crisis care model. A crisis could be something life threatening like a serious car accident or a heart attack.
It could also be something non-life threatening like a broken bone. The medical system is great at dealing with these types of situations and indeed they prevent many deaths. But if you are interested in improving your health, there is not much medicine can offer you.
The health care system is often considered to be the services covered by our provincial health plan. In Ontario it is called OHIP. When OHIP was first introduced, it was not called OHIP which stands for Ontario
Health Insurance Plan. It was called Medicare. The change from Medicare to OHIP was erroneous and has cost us a great deal in terms of our health.
Our OHIP system is designed to offer medical care, but medical care cannot serve all our health care needs. Medical care is most suited to serving our crisis care needs.
Medicine functions from an allopathic perspective on health. This means there has to be something wrong with you before they can help you. Life is about continuous growth and if we only do things
for our health when we have problems, we will not be able to sustain that growth.
If you go through life only caring for your health when you have a problem, you can be sure you that will develop some health problems and will likely end up in a serious crisis. If you go through
life constantly working to build your health, you will have a much greater potential to avoid health problems and serious crisis.
If you experience some type of serious health crisis, the medical doctor is the best place to be. Once the crisis is over, you are best to seek help elsewhere.
If you truly want to experience the highest level of health possible in life, you need to be continuously working at building health. This is what Wellness Care is about. The purpose of this website is to help
you learn more about Wellness Care and connect you with people in the Quinte Region who can help you to pursue wellness in your life.
